Heritage Kashmiri Carpets
At Zar-e-Kashmir, each piece is created using centuries-old Kashmiri.
Description
A Kashmiri carpet takes months to make. Sometimes longer. The weaver sits at a loom, placing each knot individually, following a pattern that exists partly on paper and partly in memory. It’s slow, disciplined, deeply skilled work, and the carpets that come out of that process are unlike anything made by machine.
Our Heritage collection brings these carpets to homes in the UK, sourced directly from the artisans who make them in the Kashmir Valley. The patterns draw on centuries of Mughal and Persian influence botanically and geometrically, layered with meaning, and the colours are achieved through natural dyes that don’t fade so much as they settle and deepen over time.
Put one of these in a room and you’ll notice it changes the feel of the space entirely. People tend to stop and look. That’s not an accident. That’s what happens when something is made with real care.
Every piece we offer is made completely to order. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting when you choose something from Zar-e-Kashmir, an artisan in Kashmir begins work on it specifically for you. This does mean a wait, and we think that’s worth being honest about. But it also means what arrives at your door has never belonged to anyone else, was never made speculatively, and was crafted with your order in mind from the very first thread.
If you’d like to place an order or simply want to know more before committing, please get in touch with us at hello@zarekashmir.co.uk. We’re a small team and we respond personally, no automated replies, no call centres. Just a conversation about something we genuinely care about.
By ordering, you’re not just acquiring something beautiful. You’re directly supporting an artisan family in Kashmir and helping keep a craft alive that the world is quietly, slowly losing. That means something to us, and we hope it means something to you too.
